Something good is always worth waiting for. That looks to be the case in the state of Illinois. After a wait of over 30 years, Danville is finally going to get a casino. It was no surprise therefore that former State Rep. Chad Hays commented: “It’s been a long, long, long time coming from this community.”
The long-awaited casino would be the 11th in the state of Illinois and it’s believed that within five years it could provide $7m for the state. The planned casino is being developed by Haven Gaming LLC. They are promising to deliver something that has the “wow” factor.
There are ambitious plans indeed for what is currently an empty piece of land. Once developed, there will be a resort that wouldn’t look out of place if it was situated in Las Vegas. The planned development includes a spa, pool, ballroom, hotel and conference center.
However, before this family-friendly development can be created, Haven Gaming need to see their proposal approved by the state. Once that is granted, it’s anticipated that building work will take up to three years to finish. The plan is to create a temporary casino before the completion of the entire project.
Haven Gaming LLC is a new group but those forming it have over 100 years of experience in the gaming industry. It includes Lou Lang who was a state representative for 32 years. He has regularly been a big supporter for gaming expansion in the state. His view is that “this is about not only revenue, but this is about the future of Danville.” That view regarding the future of Danville has already been shown by the group. They have pledged to donate millions of dollars to the city.
Scott Spylot is a Chicago gaming attorney. His view is that the new casino will be “one of the most successful casinos not only in Illinois but all of the Midwest.” Bill Bembenek is the former CEO of the Pala Casino Spa & Resort.
The proposals for this exciting development are due to be made to the state at the end of October.
