Leading online gaming developer Playtech have revealed their latest move to support online casino operators in their efforts to regulatory safer gambling requirements.
The company, which is known as one of the industry’s most prodigious casino and slots game developers, has announced that they will be integrating the Affordability UK tool into its Information Management Systems (IMS) gaming platform.
Affordability UK is produced through a collaboration between eKYC and fraud detection firm TruNarrative, representing an extension of their partnership with Playtech, which enables them to deliver a wide range of player verification and other services.
Speaking about the development, the Chief Compliance Officer with Playtech, Ian Ince, emphasised that it was important to support operators to meet changing requirements as regulatory focus increases the emphasis on affordability and said that he was confident the company could deliver that stronger support, through working with its partners:
“TruNarrative’s specialist safer gambling services have quickly made them a core partner for Playtech and now, with Affordability UK, we can offer a sophisticated, market-leading solution, backed by some of the most comprehensive data available. Backed by IMS integration, it can deliver a seamless experience for operators.”
The CEO of TruNarrative, John Lord, echoed those sentiments. He said that the partnership with Playtech, which was launched earlier this year had enabled them to provide a number of specialist services to Playtech clients, and that Affordability UK will be an important addition. He added that the technology provided unique insight into a customer’s ability to afford their bets, along with the minimisation of the need for physical payslips and document submissions, and he expressed confidence that it would become a key part of any gambling operator’s toolset as they strove to meet the requirements of regulators on safer gambling.
The integration of Affordability UK will enable Playtech to identify customers who are at risk of unsustainable gambling behaviour. The insights provided by Affordability UK along with the capabilities offered by the TruNarrative platform will make it possible for online gambling operators to write their own rules and design thresholds based on individual customer’s affordability data, behaviour and transactions. The platform will also enable them to automate decisions and carry out manual investigations on the basis of real-time data and to use one interface to help them to track player spending across multiple brand platforms.
The announcement from Playtech comes at a time when European regulatory developments have placed considerable emphasis on affordability and verification of source of funds. The UK’s regulator, the UKGC, has said that more stringent affordability requirements would be seen as a priority in the upcoming review and reform of the 2005 Gambling Act.
